What is k2diags.2-0-1.bin for?

Can anyone tell me, what the file k2diags.2-0-1.bin in the bootflash of a Cat4506 is for? Do I need this file to boot the switch or can I delete it?

AFAIK and based on the filename i feel its something related to diagnostic tool developed by cisco offlate.

It may be required during the bootup to find the health conditions of the line cards as well as the chassis also if u want to do online diagnostic on the modules installed.so its better to keep that intact.
