So I'm looking for a "poor man's" Cisco Academy. I recently got laid off from my job and I thought I was going to receive financial assistance and go back to school but I just got the news that unfortunately I don't qualify :/. So I will only be paying for the test out of pocket. I have a book CCNA 100-105 Official Cert Guide in PDF form, Packet Tracer, and GNS3. Have any of you guys done it this way without going through the official Cisco Academy? If so, what are some other resources you can recommend? It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Study CCNA is easy, Now days everything Availbel on Google and Youtube many many videos as long as you have time to learn.
There are many guide and PDF you can find un officially or officially depends on your interest.
Most of the concept are alrady documented on cisco site. (print blue print of CCNA) search each topic you get as many as you can.

Hi there,
Personally speaking I have completed all my cisco certs to date with just the various official cert guides and GNS3. I have always found classroom learning (in person or virtual classroom) to be hit and miss.
Beyond that, as @balaji.bandi says, once you know the key terms to search for, just google your way through the syllabus.
cheers,
Seb.

Self-study is very possible and doable. your book is for previous cert version; you do not have to buy new one but you will have to review new topics. PT is recommended and enough to pass exam. depending on your networking experience, you may need more resources such videos, practice tests, labs, and others. For those resources and exam topics as well as study group, go to Cisco Learning Network, CLN.
CLN is official Cisco site that provides certification resources and info such as exam topics and tips, posts and study groups, educational and learning technologies help via Q&As and Webinars.

Best of Luck!
