For redundancy purpose I have configured a leased line as a primary line & ISDN VPN as a backup for the primary. Now just to make sure that ISDN is working properly, we do carry an ISDN test twice a week , by manually generating the intrested traffic.
This activity is really painful, So I am looking for a tool that can automatically test the ISDN line, once in a day by dialing out & disconnect after the idle timeout.
Does anybody know such kind of tool, or anything by which I can avoid the manual efforts?
I am using Cisco hardware in my network.
Thanks In advance.

You can probably turn on some routing protocol on the ISDN and use a time of day ACL to mark it as interesting only at the time that you want.

Hello,
I don´t know if you are using CiscoWorks, but if you do, you can schedule commands to run on specified devices at specified times.

If you monitor your network just add the bri interface of the remote to your polling process.
