Ping docsis command

Hi all,

Can i ping docsis CPE(behind cable modem/router) NIC card from CMTS? or ping docsis is used just for cable modems? In other words : if i try to ping docsis on thet CPE and i get success !!!!, did that only pinged cable modem not the CPE's mac?

The ping docsis command returns a verification from a Cable Modem that is pinged.
