Port Group / Eather Channel Configurations HELP...

Interconnecting Cisco Switches (2924M-XL - 2924XL) using Port Groups, how do you set the forwarding? (source or destination)

Should STP be used in this environment? Switches are configured so that Servers are all connected to a "Core" switch (2924M-XL). Ports on the switch are then "port grouped" to other switches which connect users. This particular switch also has two gigabyte uplink ports, one which is used to uplink to a 2950 switch and the other connects to a server gigabyte nic card. The 2950 also has additonal switchs connected via (eatherchannel) configuration.

I'm not a NEWBIE, but very seldom have to work or configure switches. I know that proper configurations can greatly effect performance.

Thank You for your help

BK-2900XL-Test(config-if)#port group 1 distribution ?

destination Transmitted frames are distributed by destination address

source Transmitted frames are distributed by source address

This is how you specify how the frames are sent across the channel.

STP should be running, incase of a FeC break, but no special config should be added.

Daniel,
