Can anyone explain what the: trtl counter:(throttle count) indicates when I do a "show interface summary" on a gig port.

Hi,
found via Output Interpreter Tool:
'throttles' (receivers on port disabled). This could be due to buffer or processor overload.
TRY THIS: Monitor CPU usage with the 'show process cpu' command, and buffer usage with the 'show buffers' command. Consider pasting the output from these commands into Output Interpreter for analysis.

Thanks for reply, I will check as suggested.
The trtl counters appear to be ranging up and down which might suggest cpu or buffer problems.
Although if it was a cpu problem I would expect to find the same condition on other gig ports which are showing clear.
Many thanks

Maybe the particular port demands more than its fare share on the system's resources.
Does it have more traffic relatively to the others ? If this happens, is it normal ?
I remember seeing throttles reported during attacks with small packets.
In such cases you might not see high rate (which is tricky),
but the packets/sec is high and is what ultimately matters.
