I've been given a project that requires keeping an inventory of devices connected to ports on our Cisco 3550 Switches. I have been able to map the MAC Addresses to the ports on the switch through SNMP and the BRIDGE-MIB, however, it does not appear to list all of the MAC Addresses connected to it. Even the sho mac-add command does not list all of these devices.
I had evaluated SolarWinds Switch Port Mapping tool which does give an accurate account of all MAC Addresses which are connected.
My question would be: Does the SolarWinds tool use other methods to determine the remaining devices, or perhaps there is another MIB I could be utilizing that I am missing.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks,

Have your tried using the Campus Manager User Tracking Tool (part of CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution)? It will inlude MAC addresses among other SNMP- and CAM table- derived information.

Unfortunately, that does not fit our budget...
But I think the problem is with the CAM "agingtime" value, which is only set to 300 seconds. I will have to look for an alternate solution.
Thanks.
