Set up is as follows:
There are two 2 Cisco 6506 core switches which are trunked. The floor
switches,ie,Catalyst 3524 switch are connected via GBIC uplink to the
core switches.
Problem:
Oracle Database is loaded on the Sun Server which is in the VLan300
and the clients are placed in Vlan 400.Whenever client fires a
particular query there is an orcale error "ora-3114: not connected
to oracle"and for that a particular moment there is request timed out to the
Sun Server.Ping response is back within few seconds or just by
restarting the application again. The same problem doesnt come when the
server and client are placed in a Single VLan ie,300.
The other applications like Lotus notes,Outlook Express and day to day
activity works fine on the same client mc.Traceroute and ping response
from the floor switch as well client mc is fine.
Actions Taken:
We have changed the switch port, Cable ,lan card of the client machine.
On switch Spantree portfast,100Mbps Full duplex has been forced .
The are no errors observerd on the switch ports either on server end
or the clientend(crc error). From Oracle end oracle parameter Timeout_expire has been modified
on the server. But still the same error exist.
