Hi All
This is the first time I have tried seting up a router. The problem is that my customer can go on the internet and get e-mail from a outside pop3 server but cannot send mail to a outside SMTP server. Can anyone give me an clue as to were to start looking for the problem.
Thanks
John

Since SMTP is TCP port 25, try looks if any access-list for port 25.

Thanks for the input.
Like I said I am new to this . How do you do that. I have the set up doc. I am not sure on how to do it. Sorry if I am being basic. I guess you have to start some where.
Thanks
John

Hi John,
The problem could may also be the ISP has blocked the SMTP port from unknown IP addresses. This is to prevent SPAMing. Is the DSL coming from an ISP and you are trying to use the SMTP server of another?
Check your access-list with a "show running-config" to see if there is any like this:
access-list xxx deny tcp any any eq smtp

Ron
