ASDM Access

I have a strange issue with a Cisco PIX 515E.

If I connect a crossover cable to the inside interface I can use either the Cisco ASDM Launcher application or a web browser and connect after entering the user name and password.

If I connect my computer on the LAN and try to connect using either method it does not connect. With the Cisco ASDM Launcher I get the message "Unable to launch ASDM from ***.***.***.***".

In a web browser I enter the user name and password but it doesn't accept it.

The http server is enabled.

HTTP access is configured for the inside network address.

Are there any relevant pix error log messages? If so please post them here.

Does your pc have the same ip address when it connects to the LAN as it did when the crossover cable was used?

No error messages in the log.

PC has exactly the same static IP address.

PIX is set up as a transparent firewall.

I have now enabled http access from the same network on the outside interface as well as the inside.

When I connect to the outside interface through a switch Cisco ASDM launcher works and also through a web browser, ditto through a web browser.

But, when I try and do the same from the same laptop though a switch on the inside interface I can't connect.

Use a crossover cable directly between the laptopn and the inside interface and it works.

Are the switchports that the firewall connects to and the one your pc connects to in the same vlan?

Does the swichport settings with regards to speed/duplex for your pc and/or firewall match what the pc and pix have configured?
