I left an 837 on site with a view to configuring it later. Now I am back at the office I want to configure it. When I telnet in, it asks me for username and password. Anyone know what the defaults are for an 837

Taken from the 837 Config guide:
By default, the router ships without password protection. Because many privileged EXEC commands are used to set operating parameters, you should password-protect these commands to prevent unauthorized use.
Is this a new router?

well new (ish). I put a config on, but then reset it. I have tried the original security that I put on it, but it doesn't work.

Did you use the web browser interface to configure the router?
Could the following link apply to you?

you need to set the telnet password before you can use telnet.
looks like you will have to go back on site. there is no default password.

I think I have worked it out. Got in via a server and the web access. The telnet option is not enabled by default. Thanks for you help. ;0)
