Hello,
I am doing some security research, and am looking into what types of security vulnerabilities or threats a compromised Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) may have on a PowerKey Provisioning system. Set Top Boxes (STBs) or DTAs and CableCARDs are obviously different devices. Would I be correct that CableCARDs are the vulnerability over the STBs/DTAs? I can't seem to find any information on the Internet regarding security concerns for video signal delivery.
Does anyone know or care to comment on it?
Thank you for your time,
CZ

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the DTAs a receiving only device? They are a one way only signal reception device and they don't communicate back to the signal provider's network, except for the details about the device, e.g. MAC address and serial number? Would that be the same for the CableCARD devices?
CZ.

I have to assume with no one replying to this topic for nearly a half year that there are no security issues with these DTAs (Set Top Boxes).
