Hi all,
What do you think about put a file server (Win 2K) behind the firewall? What about security and performance?

Pretty vague there Paulo. All of our servers are behind a firewall.
If you mean, should you allow access to the file server through the firewall, well the answer from me would be no way. Have users VPN in, or use a RAS server to get to the win2k box. Or, possibly setup ftp. Too many security issues for using Win2k's file sharing over the internet, behind the firewall or not.

Purpose of aa firewall iss to protect the server resources, but depend on what services, who would have access to it, and so forth. What services would be running on the server that require access from outside? Performance should not be an issue for most apps.
If you give more info that will help,
thanks,
