Whenever I receive an update for a new signature package the site is unavailable for approximately 24 hours. Does anyone else encounter this?
Are there other ways to download the new signature packages without using the website?
Is it a "wait in line" situation and dependant on your service contract?

The problem appears to be with the file syncing across our ftp servers.
The files will now sync at 12PM PST, 4PM PST, and 5AM PST. So long as you wait past one of those times the files should download without a problem.
The fix for this will go into effect on May 8th. After that the files will always be available and sync times will no longer be an issue.

Hi Kim,
I can't speak to the 24 hour issue you are having. I can say that I am unable to download the S88 signature pack at this time. I keep getting Page Not Found for those files. I am able to download any of the older packs that are out there. I am assuming that the bulletin would not have been sent out by Cisco unless the links were working, so does anyone have another suggestion?
Thanks.

Have you been able to download it yet? I have done test downloads of the files and haven't had any problems.

This is not normal. It may take some time for the changes to propagate out to all the DNS servers but that shouldn't be more than a couple of hours.
Are you able to see the file names listed on the cisco.com website and the download just doesn't work or do you not even see the file names listed?
You can download the files via ftp without actually going to the website. They are available at:
ftp.cisco.com/cisco/crypto/3DES/ciscosecure/ids/4.x/IDS-sig-4.1-3-S88.readme.txt
ftp.cisco.com/cisco/crypto/3DES/ciscosecure/ids/4.x/IDS-sig-4.1-3-S88.rpm.pkg

I get to the download page, the filename is there, i right click some of the time or click on the link the other times and get the same result as everyone that has posted. "File not found". I had tried later in the day but without luck.
I was just able to download it now. This happens each time so I thought to bring it up to see if anyone else had the issue. They have.
Hopefully I will be able to get to it via standard FTP.

Not so frustrated :)

It usually happens to me, but only 1 out of 10 times since I only get the notices 1 out of 10 times! Wish someone would listen and fix that too. (I've sent countless emails to support to fix my notices.) I usually have to see someone talking about one here in the forum to know when there's a new sig out, rather than manually checking daily. Here's the error I get today after clicking the filename, accepting the accept page, and clicking the filename, logging in again, on the final download page clicking the filename again:
The requested URL /cisco/crypto/3DES/cw2000/mgmt-ctr/ids/ids4updates/IDS-sig-4.1-3-S88.zip was not found on this server. I think they're just ahead of themselves in the notices.

I've tried FTP in the past when the webpage download failed, and it always failed. FTP only works when you can also download it via the web page so obviously the actual file isn't there.

As of 5pm EST on Wednesday I was still unable to download 3 of the 4 files. I was able to download the S88 rpm.pkg but that's it. This morning at 8am EST I was able to download the remaining three with no problems. Not sure what the issue is but thought I'd give you that information.
Thanks.

I have just posted the S89 update files. The bulletin for them should be coming out in about a half hour.
Once they posted I went to the IDS area of the software center (http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/sw-center/ciscosecure/ids/crypto/) and did a test download of each of the files.
I was able to download each of them without problem.
Will those of you that have been having problems see if you are able to download them? If you are unable to download them please let me know the time that you tried and the results that you got. Be sure to let me know if you see the files listed and they won't download or if you are not seeing them listed at all.

11:32 CDT (04.29) - I can see S89.pkg file, but cannot download. I have had this problem for quite awhile; most of the time I have to wait until the next day to download. The error is:
Internet Explorer cannot download IDS-4.1-3-S89.rpm.pkg from ftp.cisco.com
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. PLease try again later.

If I try to download the corresponding readme file, I get this:
Not Found
The requested URL /cisco/crypto/3DES/ciscosecure/ids/4.x/IDS-sig-4.1-3-S89.readme.txt was not found on this server.

Do you first see the Encryption Software Export Distribution Authorization page.
This is a new page that was added to the download process. The end user has to acknowledge that they may be downloading files that are under government export controls for files containing encryption code, and has to verify that the files will only be used by them.
When they put in this new check a few weeks ago; you may have been sent to another page where you had to re-apply for access to files containg encryption code. There were a few of us here is Cisco that were not automatically sent to that other page to re-apply and were blocked from downloading the files. Once they got us forwarded and we re-applied everything started working as expected with the additional Encryption Software Export Distribution Authorization page being seen before every download.
Have you been forwarded to this new re-application page for access to export controlled files within the past few weeks? Did you accept and sign everything?
Are you seening the Encryption Software Export Distribution Authorization page everytime you try downloading a new file as would be expected?
Are you seeing your error before or after seeing the Encryption Software Export Distribution Authorization page?

Q: Have you been forwarded to this new re-application page for access to export controlled files within the past few weeks?
A: I have never been forwarded to this page. I have had encryption level access for a few years without any issues.
Q: Did you accept and sign everything?
A: See above, I have not been pointed to that site yet.
Q: Are you seening the Encryption Software Export Distribution Authorization page everytime you try downloading a new file as would be expected?
A: I only see the End User Licencing agreement page after clicking on the link to the software from the "table page".
Q: Are you seeing your error before or after seeing the Encryption Software Export Distribution Authorization page?
A: Since I am not seeing the page I will say before.
Steps taken:
Open email click on link:

As of 2:30pm EST I am unable to download the update for the IDS or the MC. I am able to get to the screen showing the checksums and click on the download link. Once I click on the link I receive this error:
The page cannot be found

I am able to download any of the other updates posted, just not the most recent S89 updates.
Thanks.

I was not able to retrieve them by either the website or via ftp. I tried from behind a pix firewall and from directly connecting to the Internet.
I tried it at approximately 1:35PM EST.
If you would like the logs from my FTP session I can send them to you.
