The PIX515 comes with 2 interfaces and can support up to 6 if you have the correct software installed. I am wondering if I can upgrade my 3 port PIX to a 4 port with the addition of a single 10/100 NIc from Cisco or do I have to trash the extra single port I have and buy the 4 port?

The show version will indicate how many interfaces your pix supports.

I know that my unit will support 6. I was wondering if there is a problem with inserting another single port 10/100 card or if I had to purchase the 4 port and take out the extra single I have in it already? I was reading some documentation on the PIX and it states that the bottom slot on the PIX will only support the 4 PORT card. This means that I cant use another single. The wording was confusing and I was wondering if any one was using a 4 port (total) setup with 2 extra single 10/100 cards?

Yes, you can do this. I'm not aware of any limitation with the bottom slot only supporting a 4-port card.
