I have connected a Netgear router and Dlink wireless router to a Cisco Catalyst 2960. Both the ports had smartports enabled. However the port with Netgear router was disabled and the Dlink router isolated from the network - because of the security features of using smartports I assume. But why? Only when I disable smartports on these ports can I get these other vendor devices to connect. Could someone supply a reason. Thanks
I think using smartports, there could be a problem in determining the port properties (i.e speed, duplex etc). Instead of this using a fixed configuration can help.
