Signature updates using VMS

Hi,

I have a stragne issue with VMS server, when I update IDS signatures, the signatures are getting updated on the IDS box, but the same is not reflected on the VMS server. when i query sensor it shows the updated signature but when i apply it gives an error "Object update failed. The sensor version 4.1(4)S123 is an unrecognized version. You may need to apply a signature update to the system for support of this sensor".

I tried applying updates to management center but no still the problem didnt resolve.

Hello Salim,

after updating the IDS with the latest version 4.1(4)S123, you need to update the IDS MC with the latest patch.

1) Download the MC service pack update ZIP file archive IDS-K9-sp-4.1-4-S123.zip to the /MDC/etc/ids/updates directory on the server

2) Start IDS MC from the CiscoWorks2000 Server desktop.

3) Select Configuration > Updates.

4) In the TOC, select Update Network IDS Signatures.

5. Select a file from the Update File list box and click Next.

6. Select the sensor(s) you want to update and click Next.

7. Enter a password for each sensor in the table and click Next.

8. Click Finish.
