slow connection speed on Cisco IOS router

Hi, I'm testing PPTP server function in Cisco IOS router. I'm running the test on Cisco 2651XM router. The PPTP configuration in the router is straight forward. However, the connection speed is slower comparing to MS Windows PPTP server even the bandwidth and CPU is low in the router. Does anyone running IOS based PPTP server? How is the performance?

I guess the cpu utilization goes up when you configure the pptp server on the IOS. It would be better to have a PPTP server on a Windows machine instead.
