VPN3000 SEP-E question

Hi!

What is the performance difference between SEP and SEP-E modules for

3DES? What is the tested performance of AES-128 on SEP-E? Why are

30x0E concentrators available in non-redundant (-NR) configurations only?

Hi Oleg,

Thanks much for your question. Actually the performance of a VPN3000 with a SEP-E should improve over the SEP. The 3DES performance may remain unchanged due to system resource bottlenecks, but the hardware AES implementation will provide a performance boost in that area. The asymmetric key operations (DH, RSA, and DSA) should also see improvement with the newer SEP-E encryption module. Do keep in mind though that you can either use the SEP module or SEP-E module in the chassis at one time, having a SEP-E module with SEP modules in at the sametime will disable the SEP modules.
