Dear Cisco Expertise,
Our company has three c7206vxr running ios 12.2.5c provide the service of pptp vpn gateway for the remote users. As the demanding of IPsec vpn is increasing from our users, we are planning to upgrade the ios of all the c7206
to IOS 12.2.8T(5). The newly added feature of Easy VPN server in IOS12.2.8T is perfectly fit for us. It is very easy to setup RAS IPsec vpn and the remote user can be connected through the cisco vpn client 3.5.
In concerned with the performance impact on the vpn gateway, we also purchased a few SA-VAM to off-load the IPsec encryption process from NPE. However, the IOS 12.2.8T does not recognize it and just reported an unknown module inserted in slot. As refer to some articles of SA-VAM, the minimum supported IOS version is 12.1.(9)E or later. In the Tech notes of Implementing Crypto and QoS, it stated that SA-VAM is planned to be supported in IOS 12.2T as of May 2002. So, I have tried the IOS 12.2.2T to 12.2.8T but no one can recognize it.
Could the cisco engineers please advise which IOS12.2 supports it and would the SA-VAM be supported in the successive release of IOS 12.2.8T ?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Victor Pong

Are the IOS images you are trying IPSec images?
EG:
Single DES IPSec IOS = c7200-ik8s-mz.122-8.T5.bin
Triple DES IPSec IOS = c7200-ik9s-mz.122-8.T5.bin

The following images have been tried but nothing of them can recogize the VAM card. :(

There is no 12.2 code that would support the vam on the 7200 that is released yet. Please contact your account manager to lobby for a release for it. Likely to be in the 12.2.12T or 12.2.13T

Victor or anyone,
Did you get an answer for this? We're having the same problem, we must use 12.2x because of voice PAs, and can't add SA-VAM to the system.
Thanks for any info,
Martin
