How to test WAN link?

Hi All,

Is there a quick way to test the WAN link speed between two POPs? In our situation we have two Cisco 7600's end to end located in different POPs

7600 (pop1) ---> [WAN Provider] <-- 7600 (pop2)

The WAN Provider in the middle has upgraded the link between the POPs from 700M to 1G.

Is there a simple test on the 7600's that can ensure that the link is infact able to push 1G of traffic end to end between the POPs???

Or do I need to put a device/host on both ends and run something like an iperf test.

Thanks.

Andy

Hello Andy,

The only way to check available bandwidth is pushing traffic from one host to other host end to end.

You may use some free software available on net to push traffic.. like wan killer.
