mpls bgp forwarding

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to understand mpls bgp forwarding, this command should be used only if Peering between ASBR's is done based on Loopbacks? or I should use this command also when the peering between ASBR's id done on directly connected interfaces?

From what I understood this command is used to enable MPLS frames to be sent and received on an interface that isn't running LDP or RSVP

So I guess , it doesn't matter if the peering is done on directly connected interfaces
