A friend with a internet biz gave me a 1711 router with 4ews card. I've got the console outlet hooked up and would like to run my cable modem through the 1711. I don't seem to have much luck. I have the input to the router detecting DHCP ok but that's about it. Not sure how to set up VLAN as switch port or trunk.
I have just enough knowledge via community college class to make me dangerous. Any patient people out there want to take a run at this?

I think you would get a better chance to have your question answered in the Small Business Routers section of the forum.
Also, I think your question will require some clarification, do you plan to use the router for NAT? This may help you in this case:
