Overhauling/ Upgrade the Network

Please need advise and guidance on this.
1. Replacement of the 6500 series switches with Carrier class routers - Cisco preferred.
2. Consider removal of all 3800 and 3900 series gateway routers.  Replace with Cisco ASR’s where necessary.
3. We need a Core and Backbone that can handle up to 600 Gigs worth of traffic from the Edge to the Subscriber premise.
4. The existing network will be overhauled or fully replaced by this new topology you will be designing.
5. We need a fiber ring that is truly redundant unlike what we have today.
6. Everything else IP that we need, please submit costs by Monday AM.

Everything else IP that we need, please submit costs by Monday AM.

Which "Monday"?  This week?  Next week?  Next month?

5. We need a fiber ring that is truly redundant unlike what we have today.

What is the budget for all this whiz-bang?

Next Monday , the cost for this will determine our budget for the next fiscal year. We're currently have a 6509E (4) mesh design with 10 Gig0Link. We're looking if this can be replace by ASR's or continue to use the 6509E and replace the 3900 and the 3800 for the customer edge router, and also the internet routers where our circuit from our provider. Please Advise. Thanks

Talk to your Cisco SE/AM/PSS.

Cisco has released a new series of switches:  Catalyst 93009400 and 9500.

  • The 9300 will be the direct replacement of the 3650 & 3850.
  • The 9400 will be the direct replacement for the entire 4K series, including 4500X.
  • The 9500 will be the direct replacement for the entire 6K series, including 6500 and 6800 family of switches.

Our Technical team agree not replaced the 6509E but will replacing just the 3800 and 3900 routers with the ASR9010 , my question is with the integration with the 6509e we will be doing alot of NAT on the ASR . Please Advise. Thanks
