Hi @ all,
We using VSM 6.3.1 with several series 4500 (firmware 2.0.0) cams. I need to renumber the ip of two cams.
first question: How can i change the ip address within VSOM, is there another way than changing it within the sql-db ?
second: I can't change the IP within the the webfrontend of the 4500 cam ( using IE7). The cam claims the following:"This IP has been used in the subnet", but the given IP is unused!
Thanks!

Hi,
here is an update:
I found a table within the sql-db:
mysql> select * from bas_encoders where id=1;
+----+------+-------------+--------------+------------+--------+--------+-------+---------------+----------+----------+---------------------+------------+---------------------+------------+--------+
| id | name | description | ip_address | type | device | status | state | requires_auth | username | password | created | created_by | updated | updated_by | active |
+----+------+-------------+--------------+------------+--------+--------+-------+---------------+----------+----------+---------------------+------------+---------------------+------------+--------+
| 1 | nmc | NULL | 172.23.23.51 | cisco_4500 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | admin | xxxxx | 2010-10-20 10:14:30 | 1 | 2010-11-16 11:37:56 | 1 | 0 |
+----+------+-------------+--------------+------------+--------+--------+-------+---------------+----------+----------+---------------------+------------+---------------------+------------+--------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
Are there any traps i can avoid if changing the ip there ?

I would highly recommend avoiding any direct SQL modifications to *any* tables. While this may be a benign change in the record itself, and it would likely show in the UI that the IP has changed, I doubt this would actually change the running proxy information within the VSMS component.
... I believe those are defined in an XML file located at /usr/BWhttpd/conf/proxy/ ....
Of course, absolutely none of this is sanctioned by Cisco TAC, I'm sure.
Regardless, I'm curious as to whether or not you are able to accomplish this :-)
Cheers!

Also, we've ran into the same UI issue with changing IPs on the 4000 series. I believe a colleague was the last to encounter it, and i believe it's a bug.
I'll have to check to see if it's been addressed in the 2.3.1 firmware (which is available BTW, in case you weren't aware).
Have a good weekend!

Hi Scott,
your hint did it!!! With Version 2.3 of the 4500 cams it is possibble to change the cam ip. Thanks for that.
Unfortunately i wasn't able to change the ip within VSM. I tried to the change your suggested xml and all statements regarding the ip within the sql-db. So i deleted the the cams and reconfigured them within vsom. Perhaps changing the ip is an upcoming feature.
