Cisco 892FSP - Questions

Hello all,

I would like buy this hardware Cisco 892FSP for my network company. I have some questions about  :

-> Cisco IOS firewall need a licence to be activated ? What attack can be intercepted by this firewall (Ddos, .. ?) ?

-> Cisco EasyVPN need a licence to be used ? IPsed too ? Price of licence ?

-> InterVlan routing can be managed on this router ? (How many VLAN can be created)

-> Do you know the price of this hardware (approx.) ?

Thanks a lot for your help !

InterVlan routing can be managed on this router

With the most basic license, this router will do routing (and inter-VLAN routing), however, be aware that this model can support up to 14 VLANs only.

Do you know the price of this hardware (approx.)

Depends on the country and the authorized Cisco reseller.  Make sure you go to an AUTHORIZED reseller.  And don't forget to purchase the maintenance contract that will allow you to download firmwares.

Exactly how big is the WAN link?

Hello Leo,

Thanks for your answers.

Exactly how big is the WAN link?

I have a small WAN link with 2 Ipsec Tunneling and some VPN Mobile. My LAN network has 30users. Do you know if this hardware can manage IOS Firewall ? and what is the licence needed ?

Have you an experience with an other cisco hardware which can manage: security, inter-vlan routing, vpn ipsec and mobile ? I seen Cisco Firewall ASA 5505 but this one can't manage inter-vlan routing ??

Many thanks

I can't answer the rest of the question if the most basic question is not addressed.

Hmmm.. Do you means the link speed ? So it's a fiber with a french operator, speed is 40mb.

I have this network information of my WAN card if necessary :

in => min:2.1 KB/s,avg:166.2 KB/s,max:1369.0 KB/s

out => min:0.8 KB/s,avg:9.2 KB/s,max:23.5 KB/s

Thanks

So it's a fiber with a french operator, speed is 40mb.

An 890 may not be able to handle this bandwidth.

An 890 is rated for 51.20 Mbps (HERE).  Now this value is a one-way-traffic only and without any encryption/VPN enabled.

Turn on encryption and the router might be able to push 32 Mbps worth of traffic.

Interesting :) Are you sure ? Do you know if a firewall can installed and routing ?

I have the operator router AND i would like install a hardware behind this router with security and routing (vlan). Like photo (with one LAN with multiple Vlans, DMZ between provider and my RT/FW) Have you an idea ?
