CPAM - Badge Reuse

I've assigned a badge to a user who already had a badge and activated it. Is there a way to re-purpose and re-assign this badge to a new user? I've tried to un-assign it, but CPAM has it grayed out and not accessible. I've been under the impression that once a badge is assigned it can only be used for that individual, but would like confirmation. Please enlighten me. Thank you.

I discovered that you can re-assign a used badge. You clear it under the badge which disassociates the badge from an individual... it then becomes inactive, but you can reactivate and assign to another user.
