Nexus 3048 flash memory module on system board

It is the policy of my company to prevent all data bearing devices from leaving the facility without being destroyed first.

I am decommissioning some Nexus 3048 switches. After opening one switch, I found a PCB module about 1 inch by 2 inches with samsung flash memory chips on both sides, plugged into the system board. The PCB is removable with one screw. My assumption is that this PCB is the 2GB bootflash for the switch described in the datasheet.

Is it possible that there is, or ever was data on this module that would be non-general to the switch, for example, configuration data, vlans, routing tables or ARP data?

Would removing this module brick the switch?
