Good Day All

Need some help in understanding how to use the REST services API.

I need to send custom commands to a camera to do certain PTZ functions. If someone could point me in a direction with some examples that would be great. I am working through the API programming guide and it seems a bit daunting. I have used cURL to do some initial testing just to get a feel for it.

What I would like to achieve is to enable the custom command as a set preset that a user can use in the same way that they use the standard presets from the web interface.

Have you downloaded the SDK?  

Have you visited: https://developer.cisco.com/site/physical-security/documentation/index.gsp ?

If you can trigger the required PTZ preset via cURL, there *may* be a way to easily integrate it to the existing product without taking the plunge to write a completely separate application.  It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
