Has platform support for the CPS-MSP chassis been dropped with the VSM 7.7.1 Maintenance Release?
I'm not sure what to make of this. According to the published release notes for VSM 7.7.0, the CPS-MSP chassis are a supported hardware platform:
... also supported by the fact that I have a CPS-MSP-2RU on the lab bench currently running VSM 7.7.0.
The release notes for the most recent VSM 7.7.1 MR make no statement concerning any hardware platform support being dropped (which would... you know, be kind of weird for a maintenance release anyway):
... which is pretty confusing, because it certainly just prevented me from upgrading this lab server:
So I decided to dig into the upgrade package a little
Yup, certainly looks like the CPS-MSP platform isn't supported in VSM 7.7.1 based on this? How here's where things get really interesting. This is the VSM-version.XML data from the VSM 7.7.0 upgrade package:
Soooo.... The CPS-MSP platform wasn't actually intended to be supported running VSM 7.7.0 on RHEL6?

Of course; pretty much immediately after posting this, I believe I've discovered what's happened.
FYI - don't nuke & pave a CPS-MSP chassis with the VSM 7.7 recovery media. While it will succeed (as it apparently had for me), you won't be able to upgrade.
Looks like its SUSE4LIFE on the MSP chassis.

Correction again. I can't see why one couldn't at least use the 7.0.1 RHEL5.8 recovery image on the CPS-MSP chassis. Looks like that is likely in my near future.
