I have exisitning VSM servers and may need to fully qualify the domain name (basic name) of the servers. Will the added information (new to the server) effect the operation of the VSM software?

Vince,

If you have added VSMS servers in VSOM with IP address FQDN should not create any problem.

To understand better, what is your network setup ....like is your VSOM behind firewall, VSOM/VSMS on same server ....?

Thanks

Most of the projects I work do not use VSOM, however, we are using Cisco as the video encoding suite. It is good to know if we have a basic/simple name for the server and then later add information to it to make it a FQDN, that the Cisco encoding  does not get confused.

This question is related to the post to add VSM's to an existing Active Directory. Thanks for the help!
