VSOM 6.3 Archive Recording Problems

Hi,

I have a solution with VSMS 6.3.0 and VSOM 6.3.0 installed in the same server CIVS-MSP-1RU with two HDD SATA 750 RAID 0 and 22 cisco IP Cameras 2500 wired.

I am recording 1 video archive per camera with duration 1 day, end date loop and expiration time 1 week, when I go to the archive section I can view the archives recording without problems but I can not  see any old archive, only see the archives recording in this moment but no the archives of the other day.

Thanks.

Javier.

Hi Javier.

The reason you cannot see the stopped archives is because it appears you do not have any stopped archives. From the screenshot you provided all I can tell is that you have 1 day looping archives. That is a 1 day moving window of time.

In other words you only have the last 24 hours of video archived. If you want 7 day retention, then change your loops to 7 day loops.

I would use the batch admin tool to create your 7 day archives. You may have to un-hide the archive retention and archive expiration columns. I would set the archive retention to 7 days and the expiration to 7 days. That way if they are stopped you have 7 days before they are groomed off the server to make room for new archives. If you leave them to never expire then if you ever decide to stop the archives you will have to delete them manually.

It sounds like you actually have a 1 day archive loop set up for all your cameras. Given this configuration, the most your archives are going to store is 24 hours of looping video.

If you want 1 week, create a 1 week looping archive with no expiration.

Cheers!

Hi Scott,

I have this configuration:

I need one archive video per camera per day, and we need this archive one week in the server to make a search in  the archive if I have an issue.
I need generate seven archives per week per camera.

But I only see the archive that is recording at this time in the archive list.

Your example generate one archive per camera per week.

When running archive loops the expiration only applies after the archive is stopped. Scott is right , however I wouldn't set the archives to never expire. If you do then you have to manually delete them after they are stopped. I just had to do that for a customer (255 archives deleted from 2009).

You should be able to set your archive loops in the batch admin tool. Then your old 1 day loops should expire after 7 days.

Hi Mcwalter,

My real problem is I cannot see the files stopped, I can only see the files that are running.

As I can see the files stoped and have not expired?

Hi Mcwalter,

Ok, now I understand how work.

How is the best practice to implement this recording solution?

I need 1 week of recording per camera.
