Hi
I am migrating a small DC away from 6500's onto a pair of Nexus 9500's. The customer has overlapping VLAN's between different environments and we are looking to consolidate into a single fabric while having dual running between the 6500's and 9500's to ease migration.
Would a valid solution (other than changing the existing VLAN ID's prior to migration) to use VLAN mapping on the 9k's to map the legacy VLAN's to the new VLAN structure? Is there a downside to this method?
Also if this is a valid solution would it be bidirectional in operation?
For example
Legacy VLAN 10
New VLAN 20
Config on N9K connected to legacy switch
interface GigabitEthernet1/1
switchport mode trunk
switchport trunk allowed vlan 20
switchport vlan mapping enable
switchport vlan mapping 10 20
