C1111-8P stuck in rommon

Hello, after factory reset of device, we got stuck in rommon.

System Bootstrap, Version 16.12(2r), RELEASE SOFTWARE
Copyright (c) 1994-2020 by cisco Systems, Inc.

Current image running: Boot ROM0

Last reset cause: LocalSoft
C1111-8P platform with 4194304 Kbytes of main memory

........

no valid BOOT image found
Final autoboot attempt from default boot device...
media drive bootflash: not present

........

autoboot: boot failed, restarting...

Resetting .......

It looks like the router has during factory reset erased also boot image.

Thanks

Make sure you get Lower size of USB Like 4GB or 8GB  and do FAT format and try.

First check you can able to view USB content

dir usb1: ( depends on the number)

boot usb1:image.bin try to boot, once it boot

#copy usb1:image.bin to flash:image.bin (this is exmaple only replace image name with correct one)

still not working, post complete console output for us to understand what is wrong ?

here is the procedure to boot from USB :

the USB need to be format as below steps :

  1. Format your USB flash drive with a FAT file system.  This needs to be FAT and not FAT32.
  2. Copy the system IOS image to the USB flash drive.
  3. While the router is powered off, plug in the USB flash drive to the USB port on the router.
  4. Power on the router and when it starts to boot up press the Break key to enter ROMMON mode.
  5. Once in ROMMON mode enter the following command to to boot from USB

How did you perform a factory reset?  Did you erase the config only or used the command "factory-reset all"?
If the the command was not used, then post the complete output to the command "dir".

Hello, we have proceed the factory-reset all command on the device.

Copy the firmware into the router via a USB stick.

Force the router to boot the IOS:  boot bootflash:filename.bin

After the router boots the firmware, unpack it in Install Mode.

Cisco ISR & ASR 1k Routers: IOS-XE/Firmware Upgrade (Install Mode)

factory-reset all ( all does erase including IOS)

I have suggestest above some steps in short, with provceedure or   follow @Leo Laohoo  document can able to recover from Loss of image to working devicve.

After trying multiple USB flash drives from multiple vendors i get still the
same result: "media drive bootflash: not present".

I am not able to access any data from any USB flashdrive at all.

I am also unable to read "dir" on flash memory and also on bootflash memory.

>From all memories and USB i get the same reply: "not present"

If "bootflash:" is not allowed, try "boot flash:filename.bin".

Little progres.

After command "boot usb0:filename.bin" i get this message "error file system
protocol not found on device (unsupported)"

USB device is fomrated as Logical FAT16

EDIT!!!

After i found old 1GB stick i was able to boot from USB!!!

I Tried 12different USB sticks and only one has worked!

THANKS!!!!

Samsung Bar 16 Gb (picture above) and Toshiba SA03 (16Gb) works for me.

Sadly, Samsung Bar 16 Gb is already EoS.
