Hi
I am trying to setup logging on my router. I want to use my gmail account / gmail SMTP server to send emails.
Has anyone got this working? Does the router support TLS for SMTP?
Oh - and I also get the "critical error" page. I get it when I try to un-check the send logs checkbox in the remote logging management page.
Thanks,
Alex

Alexandru,
If i am not mistaken, Gmail doesn't allow the relaying of SMTP notification via anonymous any more. So when you go and try to use encryption and it does not work. See the below links.

I usually use the providers e-mail address for relaying notification, since they will allow anonymous relay within their public subnets.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,

Yes, I am emailing logs from the server to SMTP port 25. They aren't very useful however, since they really don't record anything useful. Either I have it set up wrong (but I don't think so) or the email logging is missing all most all of the significant events. Also, the log entries really don't any detail of source/destination ip's and ports. Here is an example...
[rv220w]Tue Aug 30 10:50:56 2011(GMT-0500) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ip_conntrack_in: Frag of proto 17 (hook=0) [rv220w]Tue Aug 30 10:50:56 2011(GMT-0500) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ip_conntrack_in: Frag of proto 17 (hook=0) [rv220w]Tue Aug 30 10:50:56 2011(GMT-0500) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ip_conntrack_in: Frag of proto 17 (hook=0) [rv220w]Tue Aug 30 11:15:56 2011(GMT-0500) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK [rv220w]Tue Aug 30 11:15:56 2011(GMT-0500) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] ERROR:endChantRecv: protocol PNAC returned !OK [rv220w]Tue Aug 30 11:33:46 2011(GMT-0500) [rv220w][Kernel][KERNEL] printk: 5 messages suppressed. Does anyone know where the logs are for refused connections or VPN accesses?

This one is in the firmware release notes :-( At least it is a known bug.

Ok - you are correct - not much information in those logs.
At this point I am ok with the logs not being sent...
Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the info.
I ended up using my provider's server - but it would be nice to have this feature - can we enter a suggestion for this?
Thanks,
Alex
