Hi Guys,
Not sure if someone can point me to some documentation here or explain this for me. I cannot create subinterfaces under the gig ports on my router but I can under the eth port with no problems!
Is it because they are classified as switchports? Would the command "no switchport mode" not negate this for me? Is there a way to create subinterfaces under them?
Command to try create them below - unrecognized
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
ATM0 unassigned YES NVRAM administratively down down
Cellular0 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
Cellular1 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
Dialer10 x.x.x.x YES IPCP up up
Ethernet0 unassigned YES NVRAM up up
Ethernet0.10 unassigned YES unset up up
GigabitEthernet0 unassigned YES unset up up
GigabitEthernet1 unassigned YES unset down down
GigabitEthernet2 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
GigabitEthernet3 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
GigabitEthernet4 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
interface GigabitEthernet1
no ip address
end
(config)#interface GigabitEthernet1
(config-if)#no sw
(config-if)#no switchport m
(config-if)#no switchport mode
(config)#interface gigabitEthernet 1.1 ?
% Unrecognized command
(config)#interface gigabitEthernet 1.1
Thanks
Gary

Hi garybrophy,
The ISR series are not considered a Small Business router (such as the RV series). I'd suggest to post your question to the main Routing section so your post can get the appropriate visibility and be answered sooner. If your issue is urgent you can also call our support centre for assistance. Thank you!
