Existing config file upload

Hi,

I will soon be swapping out a Cisco IE3000 switch with 8 ports for a switch with 24 ports. I am hoping to keep the existing configuration of the switch but then just add some configuration against some of the other ports that we will be using for additional devices. Is it possible to simply upload the existing config file against a new switch and make minor adjustments then based on the fact they are both still cisco switches but with a different number of ports?

i would suggest taking the old config in the notepad, connect the new device offline and paste the config and see all the config available new device and add a new port configuration and save it 

check all config ok - then make an maintenance window and cut over to new device 

is this make sense?

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes that makes sense, switch should be arriving in the next day or two and i will try it then.
