Meraki MX85Router

Does anyone know if the Advanced Security License for the Meraki MX85 router is necessary?  The 36 month cost is twice the cost of the router.  The router comes with a firewall, correct?  And I would think there is some support for a newly purchased router.  Also does the router come with some level of cloud interface for setup and programming?

Hi, to start work with any meraki device you need a license. for MX devices, there is 3 license categories which have different capabilities. (check below link for comparison). depending on your requirement you can select which license is matching to your company. also note you can have only one license type within one meraki organization.

The two most common licences are Enterprise and Advanced Security.

Enterprise gives you a basic firewall.  Advanced Security adds contenting filtering, an IPS engine and AMP for malware scanning.  Here is a comparison chart of the different licence options:
