the incoming log on my RV042 is full of these messages and the router reports a CGI error when trying to connect to the web interface on http://192.168.1.1
Any idea how to remedy this?

- Reboot the device , possible resource lock-up.

can you elaborate on resource lockup please? is this a known issue?
my gut feeling is some outside entity is sending incorrectly sized packets as evidenced by the log entries like:
Mar 16 20:24:48 2022 Kernel ipt_tcpmss_target: bad length (585 bytes)
which is in turn causing the router to misbehave and ultimately become unresponsive. Perhaps this is an MTU issue? I have the WAN MTU set to Automatic.
I realize that this is an EOL device but rebooting should really not be an option for consideration as a fix for a router - especially for a device that carries the Cisco nameplate.

Thanks for that link and I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I don't have a Multi-WAN failover setup, just a single WAN1 connected to my ISP's modem, WAN2/DMZ is disabled.

- For the Out of Memory errors I would still advice , a one time reboot 'for this case' ; check if GUI becomes available and usable , check if TCP errors come back too (or not).

Agreed. After a reboot the RV042G web interface is accessible again.
This is the 3rd time this has happened in a span of 2 months after years of trouble-free operation, so I thought I'd dig in a little deeper to find out the root cause.
The logs are always the same: a bunch of ipt_tcpmss_target: bad length errors followed by Out of memory errors for various processes.

Happened again this morning, had to power-cycle the RV042 to get internet and web-management-interface back.
It's getting pretty annoying at this point with these random interruptions of service. The Incoming log is all too familiar now ...

Hello,
I have this problem too. 2 routers RV042G V01 with firmware version v4.2.3.14 connected via Gateway To Gateway VPN. Both with static IPs (Magenta Business product). Only WAN 1 programmed. The RV042 fail after about 3-4 days. Customer only reported months later that it annoys him to "constantly" restart.
Do you even get support for an EOL product?
@ehosca, did you get a solution yet?
regards,
T.

yes .. after reaching out to Cisco and getting nothing, I solved the problem by replacing the RV042 with this

Highly recommended.

Same router and same problem. But the out of memory come on various processes near in every 3 month. In this case the internet connection become dead, and need more try to login onto the router. After router restarted then everything is works fine again.
