PPPoE Connection with RV325

Hey folks,

we’re in a process of upgrading our network infrastructure. For this purpose we bought the CISCO RV325 Router.

Unfortunately we’re experiencing some issues, that we’re not able to resolve.

We’ve tried to set up our internet connection via PPPoE, which worked fine with our old hardware (AVM FRITZ!Box 7390 – pretty common network hardware in Germany).

Our local ISP provided us (beside the username and password) a VLAN ID, which seems to be essential, to get the connection up and running. The router we used before had an input field for this ID, but I can’t find any similar input field in the CISCO Interface.

The modem is connected to WAN port 1, but it’s not possible to get a connection. The log shows no errors unfortunately.

May somebody could help us to set everything up correctly?!…

Hello,

RV325 does not support VLAN tag on traffic of the WAN port. There is no option to configure VLAN tag in the WAN configuration. The only option to use RV325 in your environment is, the device in front of RV325 (modem/router) to have the PPPoE configuration and do NAT with rules to forward all traffic to RV325.

The traffic which is passing through the WAN port can be only untagged.

Currently there is no Cisco small business router which supports VLAN tags on the WAN port.
