IE shows errors on login, and Firefox shows a blank page with 2 table and nothing in the tables.
I configured it with the CD from my laptop, not my preferred way, but I'm using it, but can configure anything else.
My firmware is out of date, but with no controls I can't update it. Please help.

Dear Sean,
I have the same problem.
Try to open the Site with the URL: https://192.168.1.1.
This might help you!

Thanks, I should have thought to go to the secure page, but the fact that I got a login on the non secure threw me. Anyways, it worked like a charm, now I can upgrade the firmware.

I also ran into this behavior and found it too took me a while to figure out. I would have expected it to redirect from http to https if http didn't work. I just upgraded to 1.0.1.3 and was curious to see if this changed. I found that I can now log in to the router over http from IE, which may be a 'fix' but is not the behavior I was expecting because this means that the password to the router is now going in clear text over the local network. Oddly, Firefox still doesn't work over http, so something really flakey is still going on.
