The RV220W has full VLAN functionality and what you described is completely possible. You also have the option to enable Inter-VLAN routing and pass two VLANs through the same port, to a switch for example. You can create up to 16 VLANs.
The RV042G has multiple subnet feature (up to 4) and allows port based VLAN. It is not possible to route between VLANs or create a VLAN trunk to a switch. The functionality is not near as good as the RV220W in regards to VLAN.
