RV110W AND RV215W randonly reseting IP to 10.10.10.1

I have had in place a RV110W and was replaced with a RV215W and both have the same issue that they will radomly, sometimes after weeks, or just even days, will reset from the IP i have set to 10.10.10.1 no other settings are changed, password, SSID, etc are all unaffected. I log in, change the ip back and save, and all is back to normal.

Its connected to an unmanaged 48 port dlink switch. I've checked for something on that IP and tried to verify and nothing seems to be on the IP that i set for it.

I have about 40 units with static IP's, and another 20 with DHCP set in an unused range.

What could be causing this?

Hi,

According admin guide of RV110W (didn't check RV215W, but I guess it's the same):

If the Cisco RV110W is connected to a modem or device that has a configured
network on the same subnet (192.168.1.x), the Cisco RV110W automatically
changes the LAN subnet to a random subnet based on 10.x.x.x, so there is no
conflict with the subnet on the WAN side of the Cisco RV110W.

You may check if on the WAN port there is such ip range 192.168.1.1.

The LAN range also changes to 10.X.X.X, when you create a VPN user, for the same reason as above mentioned.

Once you change the default range 192.168.1.1 of the router (anything else, for example - 192.168.2.1 will do) it will stop happening.

I  guess the reason behind this functionality is that 192.168.1.1 is the most common used and changing it automatically should prevent routing problems.

Kremena

The WAN is connected only to a RCA DCM425 Digital Cable Modem it should only obtain an external IP. For the internal network, the router IP that I am using is 192.168.100.1. There are no VPN users/connections configured.

I have this problem too.  Different router (RV130W) and modem (Arris SB6141).  But I don't think it switches to 10.10.10.1 randomly.  I believe it happens when there's an outage on the WAN side of the modem --- either loss of the cable network or, sometimes, a reboot of the modem because of a transient power outage.  Just as the OP, the address of my router is 192.168.100.1.

This is a rather annoying problem.  It would be nice to get a robust fix.

Thanks,

---John
