Need assistance with basic vpn setup.  Used basic VPN setup to create a VPN Client tunnel.  Also attempted QuickVPN connection but remains at verifying stage althought the router vpn client connection states its online.  Connection required will be for remote lan access from client.  Can ms vpn also be used?

Qvpn is just Application that allows the quick and easy installation of Microsoft IPSec vpn client. So if you are an advance user of Microsoft yes it is possible to configure the Vpn policy and Ike policy for connection. Now you mentioned that you were getting a remote gateway not responding, this means the tunnel was fully built and it was trying to verify connectivity by sending a PING across the tunnel, the ECHO REPLY never made it back to your PC. HINTS: Remote gateway not responding…

Generally 3^rd party firewall or antivirus can cause this behavior. You have to find out what program or application is blocking the ICMP reply back to your PC.
