Is it possible to configure the RV180W VPN to use IPsec and connect to that VPN using the built in windows vpn client in Windows 7 and 8?
I have been testing this but I have not been able to get it to work.
I'm not a VPN expert so could really use some help.
What are the settings on the Router to make it compatable with the Windows VPN client?
What are the settings I need in the Windows VPN client to allow it to connect to this router?
I initially setup the QuickVPN client and that worked, but some of my users can't get it to work and I thought this might be a good alternative to try for those users.

Hi Thomas, to use windows built in client it is PPTP.
You should just enable PPTP server, create the PPTP user from the router point of view.

everything I have read says that PPTP is insecure.

Then you shouldn't use the built in client. You may explore other options such as 3rd part software, Shrewsoft.

So the Windows IPsec client isn't compatable with the Cisco RV180W?

As far as I can tell no it's not. I'm not a Microsoft expert but everything appears to be L2TP over IPsec and PPTP.
