RV220W and IGMP

Hi

I'm having problems with RV220W and the IGMP proxy. It seems that it stops working after a short while.

I've enabled the IGMP proxy under Networking/LAN/IGMP Configuration, and selected WAN as upstream interface.

I've also added some network to the allowed list, that I should be able to receive multicast traffic from.

When I enable the IGMP proxy, it works fine. I can see the IGMP packets in Wireshark on both the LAN side, which they're sent from, and on the WAN side. I also start receving multicast traffic from the servers on the WAN side in the allowed list, and it passes fine to my LAN.

But after a few minutes, I can only see the IGMP packets on the LAN side, and not on the WAN side anymore.

If I disable the IGMP proxy, and then enables it again, it works again for a short while.

Why is this happening?

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm trying to get an IPTV box to work, and it sends out IGMP packets with a few minutes interval.

I can watch TV for a short while, but then the picture freezes, when no more IGMP packets are sent out on the WAN side to renew the membership.

I'm using firmware version 1.0.1.0.

Any help appreciated!

Having the exact same problem using firmware 1.0.3.5.

Please advise.

Regards

The only solution I could find was to put a switch on the WAN side, where I connected both the IPTV box and the router.

I also found that using a switch upstream avoid this problem, but I have no permanent switch to use. Also, this should be fixed by Cisco in the next firmware release.

I have a slightly different problem with IGMP.

My ISP provide access to the Internet via PPPoE, as well as IPTV.

I enable the IGMP proxy, IPTV works well.

I enable PPPoE, IPTV stops working.

If I connect LAN directly to a PC, the PPPoE is working simultaneously with IPTV.

Please advise.

Hi all, I would recommend to go to the firewall settings and enable multicast pass / disable the block multicast packets, you may also want to disable the feature 'block fragments packets'.

On the firewall attack checks, there should be "block multicast packets" and "block fragmented packets". Both of these can be disabled to ensure passage through the WAN side.

Hi Thomas, where i can find "enable multicast pass" ? if you means "IGMP Proxy", it already enabled.

I have disabled all Attack Prevention features.

It not helps.

Any suggestion to my issue?
