RV220W, bad bandwidth sharing

stefan

Hi,

When someone downloads a file, or similar, there seems to be no, or very little, room for other requests. I've even tried to be the only one on the network, start a download (from ex. Intel) and then tries to access a simple website, almost only text, and its extreemly slow. I hav ethe latest firmware, a windows domain network and the routers is not acting as dhcp server.

Any ideas??

Good morning

Hi Stefan, thank you for using our forum, my name is Johnnatan I am part of the Small business Support community. I apologize for the inconvenience you are having, about the low Performance issue, I will share with you few tips to improve the performance.

You said you are running the last firmware, just to ensure the last release is 1.0.4.17 you can download this here http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283118607&softwareid=282487380&release=1.0.4.17&rellifecycle=&relind=AVAILABLE&reltype=latest if you are running this version I advise you to perform a factory reset before do that make a backup of your configuration.

Remember you could overload your device CPU capacity, if it has activated multiple services such as IPS, multiple tunnels, Ipsec etc. Ensure you don´t have many services activated, after the factory reset I recommend you configure again your router with the minimum configuration I mean with the basic settings, let me know if you have any other question or concern.

Thank you!!!

Ok, I'll try the factory reset. I do have 1.0.4.17 but I don't have any IPS (apart from the ones started  as default), I don't have ProtectLink. The vpn connections are not used regularly and were not the time described earlier.

I've tried factory reset. Rolling back to fw 1.0.3.5. etc. Nothing better.

I activated the function to get logs sent to me and they contain lots of

I googled and got more hits for these, strangely rv220w was the ones affected, se ex. supportforum thread #2114705.

One of the ones participating in those threads says 1.0.4.17 fixes their problm, happy for them, it didn't for me.

Any idea? Another beta firmware to test?

Hi Stefan, could you please follow these instrucions.

1. Try to use this web page to download the firmware update http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283118607&softwareid=282487380&release=1.0.4.17&rellifecycle=&relind=AVAILABLE&reltype=latest

2. Save a backup of your configuration.

3. Update the firmware again

4. Perform a factory reset one the device are ready, also without cable connected just core.

5. First try to configure manually.

6. Check the MTU size, reduce it to the minimum or raise it, in order to find the size work for you.

Long time and problem gone.

Solution:

Changed a HP Procurve (working fine til we purchased the RV220W) switch to a SF300-8 on WAN-side. When checking the HP switch the duplex setting did not match the setting in the RV220W, which was the same as the old fw. Seem to be some automatic setting to try to set it. (I do not mean the "auto" duplex setting, I mean automatic setting of duplex setting, trying to resolve full/half/auto!)
