RV320 PPPOE WAN Disconnect

I have a customer with an RV320 using PPPOE through a bridged DSL modem.  The connection comes up and will stay up for sometimes a week at a time, and then suddenly drop the PPPOE connection for no reason, causing a drop in internet connectivity.  The customer has to physically restart the router to get the internet to come back up.  In the system logs, I see:

2015-05-01, 09:50:24Network LogNSD FAIL WAN[1]
2015-05-01, 09:52:43System LogNo response to 5 echo-requests

Is this something relating to the router or the the DSL?  What troubleshooting steps should I try.

I'm also seeing something similar since installing an RV320 in the same fashion this week.  I can't see the logs as yet because I'm remote, but it's been down twice today on what is otherwise usually a very very stable connection.

Be interesting to see people's thoughts on this.

Same issue here, just started logging it.  I will post an update if I get anywhere....

RV320, static IP, Comcast biz, Houston area...

have a handful of customers that are experiencing this same issue now in Houston with Comcast biz, each static IPs.

Several RV320's have 1.1.1.19 fw and the newer installs we put on 1.2.1.13. Doesnt matter...same issue.

I see several posts with this same issue -- dropped WAN connection ... random... days, weeks, or a few times a day.  No idea what's happening.

Is there any Cisco router guys actually looking to solve this?   I can replace the router with an older RV042 and no issue!

Really?

unfortunately this router does seem to have many issues..... have been looking for a dual wan to replace this for a little while now, just not stable enough.

thinking maybe the draytek 2960, it has 500mb throughput and have used their gear before.

other option is some enterprise level appliance... not sure what mind!

failing that Cisco need to sort the firmware out!

We've been working with Comcast biz on this too. Seems if you're set up for ivp4 only there can be ivp6 floods at WAN1 that could be taking the interface offline--to inactive. Not sure on this yet.

We just config'd one site with this problem to ivp6 dual stack in the 320. Since that was done--connected to a static WAN1 with Comcast via NG3000 gateway, we've had no disconnects.  ... but then... the WAN1 disconnects are fairly random so have to hang in to see.

I was also wondering if setting this up using WAN2 as the sole WAN port would make any difference--considering there may be some code difference in the way the ports are handled.  We've disabled W2 in the W1 only setup, but who knows what code gremlins Cisco's got in this puppy.

It's too bad one of their Cisco PM's or router guys doesn't actually read these comments. .. guess those days are gone.

see we are using Dual Wan and we have dual stack enabled, only seeing this drop on WAN1 and it has only started happening in the last week or so.

I wonder if cisco will come back at all on this issue.....

Did you try with just WAN2 as the sole WAN port?   I'm still having problems with ours,  I see there is a new(ish) firmware available - 1.2.1.14 but the release notes don't mention anything about WAN drops.

When the connection goes down change the port negotiation to 100mb half and see if it connects.  If that brings up the port you can let it run and change back to auto negotiation upon the next failure.

I've read a few places where folks have had success placing a small switch between the router and modem.

I experienced the same issue and figured out when I changed the port it brought the link back up, since then the Cisco tech I was working with supplied a test firmware v1.2.1.13-ARP (2015-07-01, 19:11:33)  which solved my disconnection issues but only provides 30MB of bandwidth on a 100MB+ link.

Update: the Log shows the following;

Took a reboot to bring it back up this time.  Seems to be happening about 3 or 4 times a day.  This is connected to a BT VDSL modem which has otherwise been very stable.

I have this same problem, we have FTTP from 2 different ISP's coming into this box. we are on the latest firmware 1.2.1.13.

WAN 1 always seems to be the one that drops, this is also our fastest line (220mb) the only way to get it to reconnect is a power cycle.

this has only started happening in the last week, about 5 times. no settings have been changed on the router in a couple months.....

any ideas?
