RVS4000 DHCP Client Lease Time

Version:V2.0.0.3

I have a RVS4000 set up in a public hot spot with DHCP set for:

Starting IP Address: 192.168.69.100

Maximum Number of DHCP Users: 100

so 192.168.69.100 thru 200.

I set the initial Client Lease Time: 120 minutes (0 means one day)

I noticed as clients come and go the IP addresses are not being released back into the dhcp pool, this is over a span of a 2-3 days.

DHCP continues to assign addresses perpetually till it hits the last address in the pool (192.168.69.200).

I have also set the initial Client Lease Time: 0 minutes (0 means one day) with the same results.

If i reset the RVS4000 it returns to issuing back at the starting address in the pool 192.168.69.100.

Any insight on why this is happening.

Thanks

Mr. Vandre,

Based on what you put in your post you input 120 minutes in the timer.  That should have the dhcp server getting the addresses back every 2 hours.

For what your doing, I would lower the timer to an hour or two to get the maximum from the dhcp.

As for the dhcp clients staying in the pool longer than the timer, are you sure they are not re-authenicating to the router?
