set up RV340 with tagged VLAN on WAN to connect to ISP

Dear forum,

need some help to connect my existing RV340 router to ISP with new modem.  The idea is that the RV340 router is replacing the routing capabilities of the Internet box I received.  All of this worked in a previous set-up via PPPoE

The Internet box (modem) has following parameter (which I guess can be changed, but leaving it for now):

  • IP: 1192.168.128.1, subnet: 255.255.254.0
  • DHCP server, 192.168.129.0 - 192.168.129.254, DNS server 192.168.128.1  The DHCP server is enabled.
  • According to ISP, I need to i) set the modem in "Bridged LAN Host" (done) and add the MAC address of my the router (done), ii) connect the LAN port 1 (labeled as "bridged") of this Internet box to the WAN of the own router (done) and iii) have WAN VLAN 20 tagging.

In the RV340, I did the following settings:

  • put the WAN1 in DHCP mode.  Note that WAN1 is connected to the modem.
  • added another WAN1 with VLAN 20 (thus WAN1.20), also in DHCP mode

Despite this, the RV340 does not get an IP from the DHCP server... (getting a random IP instead) , and thus no Internet connection.

Should I do anything additionally on the RV340?

Node that I read other posts like https://community.cisco.com/t5/routers-small-business/does-rv340-support-vlan-tagging-on-the-wan-side/td-p/3080095 or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rioHY8P5PoY, but I don't manage to make this work.

attached the printscreens from the RV340 router
